Jeev Milkha Singh Wins Asian Tour Merit Title

Jeev Milkha Singh Wins Asian Tour Merit titleSuccessful Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh was officially crowned as the Asian number one for winning various titles in different tours this year. He won the Bank Austria Golf Open on European Tour, the Nagashima Shigeo Invitational Sega Sammy Cup on Japan Tour and the Barclay's Singapore Open on Asian Tour.

Jeev, who finished 37th in the Volvo Masters of Asia but took the Asian Tour Merit title with a record earnings of $1,452,701 said, "I dedicate this to my wife Kudrat, who has been an amazing support and my family, who have stood behind me all the way. I also dedicate this to my fellow Indians, who have suffered a lot during the Mumbai terror and other crises elsewhere across the country. I am a sportsman and I hope these wins and the Asian Tour Merit title can bring some joy to all of them."

Son of the legendary Olympian Milkha Singh, Jeev said that it was not easy being the son of a legend. He added, "Now my goal is a Major, which I feel I am ready to contend for and it will also mean I can sit at the same table with my father." Jeev won the titles on three different tours in the same year for the second time — the first time being 2006. "But even then this has been the best year so far in my career. In 2006, I also had four wins but I rate this season better due to my performances in the Majors. It has given me a lot of confidence and I'm more comfortable and confident when I'm under pressure," said Jeev, whose best performance in the Majors was a top-10 at the PGA Championships.
