Japan markets lower on profit-taking
Tokyo - Stocks in Tokyo dropped slightly in Friday morning trading on profit-taking following the previous day's substantial gains of more than 4 per cent.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average lost 4.62 points, or 0.05 per cent to 9,381.08.
The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was also down 1.14 points, or 0.13 per cent to 884.79.
On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar was quoted at 99.16-21 yen, up from 98.91-93 yen late Thursday.
The euro traded at 1.3385-90 dollars, up from 1.3253-55 dollars the previous day, and at 132.77-82 yen, up from 131.09-13 yen. (dpa)
