Jaffer leads India Red to finalWasim Jaffer smashed a brilliant century against India Green to lead India Red in to the final of the Challenger Trophy. India Red defeated India Green by 88 runs to set up title clash with India Blue.

India Red’s opener Jaffer and Abhinav Mukund put together record partnership of 265 runs for the first wicket as India Red scored a mammoth total of 351 runs for 2 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

Jaffer scored 143 runs with a strike rate of 100 and Mukund played a brilliant inning of 114 runs. Both Jaffer and Mukund were dropped early in their inning, but they did not give any further chance to their opponents and smashed India Green bowlers all-over the park.

India Red skipper MS Dhoni contributed unbeaten 34 from 25 balls while Yusuf Pathan scored quick 34 from 18 balls to flatten India Green bowling attack.

India Green never looked in the hunt of chasing this huge target of 352 runs. India Red openers gave a slow start to their team as they scored just 96 runs in the first 15 overs. India Red finished their inning at 263 runs for loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs and they crashed out of the tournament.
