ISAF soldier, insurgent leaders killed in Afghanistan
Kabul - Two soldiers of the NATO-led international forces were killed and one was wounded in Paktika province, while several key members of the insurgency were killed in Kandahar province, officials said Friday.
The soldiers were killed when their patrol struck a roadside bomb on Thursday in the south-eastern province of Paktika, according to a statement released by the International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) headquarters in Kabul.
Following procedures, the nationalities of the soldiers were not released.
Meanwhile, several key members of the insurgent's leadership allegedly gathered for a meeting were killed in a foreign forces' airstrike on Wednesday in the restive Kandahar province, ISAF said.
The statement, however, did not provide the exact number of insurgents killed in the attack, but said there were no civilian casualties reported. (dpa)
