Inflation Remains Unchanged At 12.14%

The wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation remained unchanged for this Inflation Remains Unchanged At 12.14%week. It is recorded at 12.14% by the week ended September 13. The inflation rate is 3.5% is more that the inflation rate in the corresponding week of last year. Country is facing high inflation rate since many weeks.

The global food and oil prices increase is remained major parameter of increase in prices in India.

The India government and the Reserve Bank of India have taken many steps to tame the ever growing inflation in the country.

The apex bank can further tighten the monetary policy to bring the inflation at normal level. The bank is reviewing the monetary policy on October 24.

The prices of primary articles increased by 0.1% from the previous week. Primary articles contribute 22% in the WPI. The increase in prices is neutralized due to decrease in the prices of manufactured products.

There is no change recorded in the prices in the fuel, power and light and lubricants segment. The finance ministry said that the prices of primary articles are in comfort zone though the overall inflation is high.

Chief statistician of India, Pronab Sen, said that the country would witness double digit inflation rate till the commencement of next year.
