Indian share markets rise nearly 3 per cent
New Delhi - Indian stock markets rose by nearly 3 per cent Thursday with the bell-weather Sensex index gaining over 315 points to end a three-day losing streak.
The Bombay Stock Exchange's 30-share sensitive index, Sensex, closed at 11,134.99, 2.93 per cent above its previous close.
The rally which took place in the afternoon session was led by the IT, metal and realty stocks.
Twenty-eight stocks in the Sensex ended in positive terrain and two ended in the red.
Among the major gainers were Wipro, Tata Steel, Reliance Infra, Sterlite Industries, Maruti and ICIC Bank.
The National Stock Exchange's broader 50-share Nifty ended at 3423.70, 2.80 per cent above Wednesday's close. (dpa)
