Indian Government could make $15 billion annually through GST By applying the Goods and Service Tax (GST), India could make $15 billion a year. By this, India would promote exports and increase employment, said by the Chief of the Government on Monday.

Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, Finance Minister is looking to set a roadmap for the launch of the aspirational tax rectify in his budget talk next Monday. It is expected to be applied throughout the country from April, 2010.

This new tax system will change all major central and state taxes and is also expected to bring down tax rates by widening the tax base and minimise freedoms.

Execution of GST had lifted GDP of Canada by 1.4%. Same type of positive affect can be expected in India which implies profit of approximately $15 billion every year.

The panel will present its report soon.

Mr. Kelkar said that construction, real estate and railway actions needs to be set under the GST, since with this additional revenue for the Government would be generated.
