INDIA’s 9/11
Mumbai, India’s financial capital again became a terrifying battleground, complete with gun battles, explosions and a raging fire last night.
At least 101 people, including six foreign tourists were killed in the city last night after gunmen turned it into a war zone, shooting people in luxury hotels and setting off explosions in one of the worst terrorist attacks in the country's history. In response, police killed four gunmen and also arrested nine suspected terrorists from the city.
Anti-Terrorism Squad chief Hemant Karkare, who was probing the Malegaon blast case, and another senior IPS officer were among those who were killed in separate encounters with terrorists at various places across the city.
