India retains no. 1 spot in ICC test rankingsIndian team has defeated South Africa in the second test match to retain their no. 1 spot in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings for test matches issued on Thursday.

India has defeated South Africa by an inning and 57 runs in a thriller on the fifth and final day of the second test match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Hasim Alma played a brilliant unbeaten inning of 123 runs but could not help his team to save the match.

South resumed from the overnight score of 115 runs for loss of three wickets. South Africa lost their four wickets early in the day as India was looking to wrap up the match before tea. But last three wickets of South Africa played together 53.3 overs.

Harbhajan Singh took a five wickets haul to lead India to memorable win against the South Africa. Harbhajan took last wicket of the M Morkel in the 131st over as india won the match with just nine more deliveries to be bowled on the last day.

A Mishra also bowled well and chipped in with three wickets. Amla was declared man of the match as well as man of the series for his brilliant batting throughout the series.
