India is building its economy brick by brick: ChidambaramIndia is building its economy brick by brick in a bid to elevate its large population from poverty, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said in his key note address at the 38th annual Leadership Summit of the US India Business Council (USIBC).

Mr. Chidambaram, who is on a four-day tour to the US to attract more investments into India, said that there was a great opportunity for both India and the US to work together.

The Minister stressed that the US and Indian businesses could perform much better if they work together, and that the partnership would generate more opportunities to build a prosperous society.

During the previous two days, Mr. Chidambaram met with Boeing International President Sheperd W Hill, Microsoft's General Counsel & Executive Vice President Brad Smith, Wal-Mart Asia CEO Scott Price and Lockheed Martin International CEO Pat Dewar, among others, to convince them to invest more in India.
