It was a unique concert held to promote peace in the world and sarod masters Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan and their father Ustad Amjad Ali Khan were the only Indian artistes selected to play the sarod at the United Nations which was a special moment for them.

"We feel proud to be a representative of an Indian art form that has its roots back into our timeless legacy, heritage and culture," The concert was held a few days before the 9th anniversary of 9/11. "Through this concert, we prayed for peace and harmony all over the world," said Amaan.

The prospect of playing at the UN was on for a few months. "We are so glad that it finally happened," joins in Ayaan. While their mother Subhalakshmi Khan was present along with Ayaan's wife Neema Ali Khan, there was also something else that made it all the more special. "We were honoured to light the lamp of the concert at the UN with The Secretary General Ban Ki Moon," he adds.

While the family always celebrates Eid at their home in Delhi, this time it was different. "Eid is usually celebrated with food, love and lots of visitors. However, this time we celebrated it in New York," he ends.
