Lahore, Dec 3: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan has said that he will launch an agitation against dictatorship and for the restoration of judiciary in the country.

“I have planned to start an agitation against dictatorship and for the restoration of judiciary in the country,” The Nation quoted Khan, as saying.

He said that the political parties would betray the nation by participating in the January 8 general elections.

Khan termed the decision of the political parties to take part in polls despite the All Parties Democratic Movement’s (APDM) November 24 decision to boycott, as “unfortunate” and “treason.”

Defending his decision to boycott the election, Khan said: “I ask the opposition parties that within present circumstances if they have to face any complaint of rigging in the elections, whom they will contact for remedy, as the judges were working under the PCO (Provisional Constitutional Order).”

On the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chief Benazir Bhutto and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam leader Maulana Fazalur Rehman’s decision to participate in the polls, Khan said that they were playing on the pitch of Pervez Musharraf and were watching their own interest by pushing the nation into darkness.

Khan went on to say that he was committed to restore judiciary in the country and for that he planned to mobilise students, and people of civil society.

He, however, refused to give details of his movement against emergency.

Khan said that Pakistan’s caretaker government was not in a position to hold fair and free elections. (ANI)
