ICC ranking system is flawed: Aamir Sohail

ICC ranking system is flawed: Aamir SohailLahore, Oct 2 : Former Pakistan captain Aamir Sohail reckons the International Cricket Council (ICC) ranking system is “not error-free” and the method of awarding points should be reviewed to have an accurate system.

Pakistan is currently ranked fourth in the ICC ODI team rankings released on September 30, while Australia tops the list followed by India and South Africa.

“If you look at the results, top teams like India and South Africa are out of the Champions Trophy semi-finals. It just shows that the rankings are not error-free. The results of the Twenty20 World Cup in England were also against the rankings,” Daily Times quoted Sohail, as saying.

Sohail further said that wickets provided in the Champions Trophy suggest that there is a need for a proper balance between bat and ball while preparing pitches for international games.

“Generally we have seen bowlers dominating the batsmen in this tournament. One reason for that is the bowlers are getting some assistance from the pitches and the batsmen are struggling because they have become used to playing on flat tracks,” he said. (ANI)
