I Was Ashamed Of Cheating On My Wife, Says Mahesh Bhatt
Ace filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt said that his flicks including "Arth", "Zakhm" and "Daddy" were encouraged from his personal experiences of betraying his wife, being an illegitimate child and that of being an alcohol-dependent.
On micro-blogging website Twitter, Bhatt posted, "What people are ashamed of usually makes a good story... I was ashamed of cheating on my wife, of being a child born out of wedlock, of being an alcoholic. These emotions created 'Arth', 'Zakhm' and 'Daddy'."
His 1982 film "Arth" is said to be a semi-autobiographical account of his extra-marital affair with yesteryear star Parveen Babi.
"Woh Lamhe", released in the year 2006, is reportedly based on Parveen Babi's fight with schizophrenia and her connection with Bhatt.
"Daddy" is a story about a young daughter who saves her father from the brink of destructing himself from alcohol addiction.
The critically acclaimed "Zakhm" is the story of an illegitimate kid, played by Ajay Devgan. (With Inputs from Agencies)
