Hyundai’s engine plans for India
Top officials of Hyundai Motors said on Wednesday that the company is planning to start a new diesel plant in India.
The total cost of the plant is expected to be $550 million and the engines thus produced will be used for providing locally made components. This, says the company, will help in providing the customers more choice in terms of the engine that they chose.
Talking about this, senior official of the company said to IANS that the feasibility study of the plant was done some three months ago. Since then the company is waiting for apt time to start using the facility, which has been made after a lot of planning and discussion.
He further added that the total capacity of the plant will be 300,000 units annually.
Hyundai wants to use the opportunity that has developed in the field of diesel cars. They have slowly started gaining prominence, mostly after the i10 model came to the market.
As for the plans about the plant, the official said that in the beginning only some critical components will be made and slowly they will shift over to other parts.
