The second-largest automaker in the domestic market Hyundai Motors India is planning to launch a handful of new i20 variants in order to gain more ground in the premium hatchback segment in the Indian automotive market. Experts believe that the plan is more influenced by the rising competition in the segment and the country's largest exporter of passenger cars will be giving an appropriate answer by launching more variants of the i20.

Moreover, it is expected that the i20 1.2 will be the one which will stand against the competition rather than the 1.4 as the segment is getting competitively priced at this hour.

Notably, the company has recently shifted a part of its production to Turkey to fulfil more demand coming form the domestic market. Moreover, the company also launched the diesel variant of the i20 last year. The product carries a long waiting list on its shoulders and has done wonders for Hyundai Motors India in the premium hatchback segment. In fact, its cousin i10 has displaced Santro to become the flagship model of the company in the Indian market.
