Hasselblad releases new 200-megapixel camera
Camera maker, Hasselblad is offering a new top end H4D-200MS model with 200-megapixel resolution for a whooping $45,000.
The Hasselblad H4D-200MSS uses a 50 megapixels sensor but multiplies it through the multi-shot technology. This indicates that it is suitable only for high-end photography of static objects as the technology will not work on moving objects.
The multishot technology does not switch various shots together but works with a piezoelectric motor that moves the camera's image sensor a bit before each shot is taken. The six-shot mode comes after the four-shot multishot mode offering amazing results.
The four-shot mode takes about 20 seconds for taking a full photo compared to about 30 seconds for in the six-shot mode. The moving of the camera offsets that a sensor only can capture red, green, or blue light.
The company had announced the model during the Photokina show last year. Hasselblad has said that it expects to launch the model in the first quarter of 2011.
