GSM finds its way in Maharashtra

Virgin-MobileA reason to snarl for telecom operators in Maharashtra has just come up in form of- Virgin mobile plan. The GSM operator already has spread its branches across states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Kerala circles, and now Virgin mobile has proclaimed to enter the market of Maharashtra stretching itself through Mumbai circles. These circles were already taken care by Virgin Mobile's CDMA network, and now they are looking for a share in the GSM market as well.

As usual, Virgin Mobile offers competitive packages to its target audience - most of which are the youth targeted. For example - users across Maharashtra shall be charged of 20 p per minute for Virgin network calls. For other networks the rates are 40 p per minute for local and 50 p per minute for STD calls. And many such attractive offers come with this including various messaging packs.

Virgin is linked with Tata DoCoMo which allows an extension of its GSM services in the country and the same is applies for CDMA services which are being supported by Tata Indicom.

Virgin's focus towards its target segment is reflected from the choice its brand ambassadors for the GSM platform - Ranbir Kapoor and Genelia D' Souza, bollywood actors. Using youth icons as brand ambassadors, Virgin tries to increase its market share and this might prove in achieving the feat as well.
