Growing number of Americans choosing health coverage
Data has shown that a growing number of Americana re choosing to get healthcare coverage under the Obama Administration's health care law.
The Affordable Care Act, which came into effect from 1 January, 2014, offers health coverage to the people in the US. Experts had said that technical issues affected the new HealthCare. gov website during the first three months affected enrolments into the system. However, residents increasingly chose to get covered under the system in the country.
Figures have shown that women are signing up at much faster rates than men. The data has shown that women now account for 55 percent of total signups and men comprise 53 percent of the uninsured population and have a larger number of people who most seek health coverage. However, women are stull increasing enrolling into the law at a faster rate than men.
The US government had set a goal of signing up 7 million people nationwide by March 31. Latest figures showed that 3.3 million Americans have now selected a plan under the new system, continuing an increase from nearly 2.2 million recorded earlier.
