Govt Doctors Threaten To Stop Work Over Incentives

Govt Doctors Threaten To Stop Work Over IncentivesPhysicians working in government hospitals are not ready to carry on their service if the revised pay scales, which they had demanded for working in rustic regions, are not released.

The doctors submitted a memorandum to the state's CM B S Yeddyurappa, demanding him to agree to their demands failing which the 4,199 medical doctors from the Association would stop attending to patients.

Dr. HN Ravindra, president, KGMOA, said that all physicians under the Association would discontinue working from Feb 15, if the administration fails to reach the final decision by Feb 10.

Dr. Ravindra said, "It has been three months since the state government announced an increase in salary but it has not been implemented. We have decided to go on sick leave from February 15. The KGMOA doctors will not attend emergency or casualty services at the designated desks."

KGMOA also complained that the administration is not discussing with them in making decisions. In 2009, KGMOA physicians forwarded their resignation letters on September 29, after the administration dismissed the demands. After a Cabinet pronouncement, the administration declared on October 29, an increase in pay that was to be carryied out from the same month.

But till date, the same had not been fulfilled.

M. Ramana Reddy, Health and Family secretary, said that all the demands have been met excluding one particular matter that still needs to be settled. But, KGMOA members want all their requirements to be fulfilled simultaneously.

But, Dr. Ravindra, said that the major issue awaiting for authorization was the consideration of contract period for claiming allowances. The administration is silent on the subject of contract service period even though there was an contract to verify the PG pupils working on contract basis.
