Google’s Cesar Chavez doodle on Easter infuriates Christians

Google’s Cesar Chavez doodle on Easter infuriates ChristiansAccording to The Huffington Post, Google's decision to commemorate leftist idol Cesar Chavez's 86th birthday with a special Google doodle on March 31, rather than celebrating Easter Sunday, has been widely criticized by many Christians.

With Google not having recognized Christ's return on its home page, most Christians are infuriated at the thought that the Internet search giant chose to promote the inspirational leader Chavez - who was an activist, labor leader, and an organizer - instead of putting up an Easter doodle.

Although the angered Christians feel that Google's decision to commemorate Chavez amounted to a snub of Jesus on the day Christians mark his resurrection, some reports have drawn attention to the fact that Google has, ever since the year 2000, not come up with any doodle related to Easter.

To elaborate the point, a Business Insider report said that, in 2011, Google's doodle on Easter commemorated the 200th birthday of German chemist Robert Bunsen.

Furthermore, with Google defending its decision to honor Chavez with a special doodle with the argument that President Barack Obama has declared the 31st of March, 2013, as Cesar Chavez day, the Business Insider cited a Google spokesperson as having said, via an email: "We enjoy celebrating holidays at Google but, as you may imagine, it's difficult for us to choose which events to highlight on our site. Sometimes for a given date we feature an historical event or influential figure that we haven't in the past."
