GM's gets aggressive on SAIC's plans

GM-IndiaThe day GM India announced its partnership with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), analysts were very much sure of the fact that the American auto major is planning to take its India operations to a new level.

In fact, the company has recently announced that it will be launching two LCVs and three passenger vehicles from the SAIC stable.

While the products will be labeled under the Chevrolet brand, the MD of the India operations, Karl Slym recently pointed out the fact that the Talegaon plant will produce the upcoming cars and the CVs are planned to be produced from Halol plant.

Moreover, the duo is also planning to produce a product in the passenger car segment within the Rs. 2-2.5 lakh range and if GM decided to bring it to India as well, it will be a very nice bouquet of offerings along with Beat and Spark.

In fact, since, the semi-urban and rural consumers are also willing to buy new brand cars, the American Car Giant is focusing on tier 2 and 3 centres and is planning to open 60% of its new dealerships in the coming times in the Tier II & Tier III regions.
