General Motors, multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, has announced that the all-electric GMC Hummer EV pickup/SUV will see a price hike of more than $6,000 due to inflationary pressures.

According to the announcement, GM will increase the base manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of the GMC Hummer EV pickup/SUV ordered on or after 18th of June by $6,250. The automotive giant attributed the price hike to the increase in the prices of commodity parts, automotive technologies and logistics.

The GMC Hummer EV is one of the most costly EV on sale in the U.S., but the price hike has proved that even the most expensive EVs are not immune to inflationary pressures. Luckily, all existing GMC Hummer EV reservations placed before 18th of June 18 will not see any price hike, irrespective of trim or model. As per available information, a total of slightly more than 77,500 reservations were placed before the aforementioned date.

The final pricing for the EV differs as per selected option and package, as well as the price that the customer and dealership agree upon at the time of ordering of the vehicle.

GMC also announced that Hummer EV pickup customers who have reserved the 3X trim level will be allowed to customize their EVs this summer by selecting their desired options and packages prior to submitting their orders.

Making the announcement, GM said, “This will allow EV 3X customers to content their vehicle with new paint color choices, available options like the Extreme Off-Road package and the available 24-module battery pack that enables available Watts To Freedom's blistering 0-60mph in approximately 3 seconds; features made popular on the Edition 1 model."

As usual, the prices for options and packages will be over and above the base MSRP. Those who have placed orders for the GMC Hummer EV 3X pickup will receive more information on available options and packages sooner than later.

The 3X trim level of the GMC Hummer EV pickup/SUV is listed on the company’s official website with a starting price tag of $99,995, but the base price for new reservations placed on or after 18th of June will be increased to $106,245. The Hummer EV 3X features a powerful tri-motor AWD powertrain that produces up to 830 horsepower. This range-topping trim level, following the sold out Edition 1, has an estimated range of 300 miles on a single charge.
