GM sells 1,00,000 unit of Chevrolet SparkAmidst the scenario of intense competition in the small car segment in the Indian market, General Motors India has recently announced that the company has sold over 1,00,000 units of Chevrolet Spark in the Indian market.

Notably, the Spark has been the flagship product of Chevrolet in the Indian market contributing more than half of the units sold in the domestic marketplace till the time its companion Beat was launched.

In fact, as it has been able to register record numbers month after month in the Indian market, experts believe it to be a tough competitor to other products in the category, all thanks to the aggressive pricing and styling of the product. As the company rolled out its 1,00,000 unit from its plant, P. Balendran, VP, GM India reemphasised on the fact that Spark has been a very big hit globally and similar is the scenario in the Indian market.

Moreover, Balendran also explained the fact that since the Spark is launched at an affordable price tag, it is giving the expected volumes to the company. GM India is also planning to launch an electric Spark in the Indian market in collaboration the electric carmaker Reva in the Indian market by the end of 2010.
