German police question nurse over hospital deaths

German police question nurse over hospital deathsMagdeburg, Germany - German police said Wednesday they were questioning a nurse following the deaths of up to 300 patients at a hospital intensive care unit.

The deaths at the Altmark Klinikums Gardelegen in the east German state of Saxony Anhalt date back to 2006 with an expert recommending that 15 deaths from last year be investigated.

The nurse, who has since moved to another part of the clinic, has rejected any suggestion that she may have been involved in the any of the deaths in the intensive care unit.

The police inquiry into the deaths was launched in February with investigators now planning to exhume and carry out autopsies on four bodies. (dpa)
