In a bid to ease the liquidity pressure in the monetary system, the union government has directed public sector enterprises to keep their surplus funds with public sector banks (PSBs) without any competitive bid. Total surplus funds amounts to about 1,00,000 cror. This amount would meet fund requirement of the banks, as they have already used funds to cover government sponsored farm loan waiver and other debts.

With 'Ananthapurathu Veedu' - the next venture by Director Shankar's S Pictures - 'thriller specialist' Naga is making his debut as director on the big screen.
The story, screenplay, dialogues and direction are by Naga. Even though Naga claims that the film would be a family-oriented one, sources say that it would be another thriller along the lines of his TV serials, like Marma Desam, Vidaathu Karuppu and Chidambara Ragasiyam.
Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire", from Fox Searchlight Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures, is a comedy, a tragedy, a romance and a social commentary all rolled into one stylish, unpredictable package.
The film was the audience favorite at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, and, form the rave reviews, it could already be on its way towards winning more significant awards in the coming months.
