Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Linked to Birth DefectsA new study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has found that children conceived with assisted reproductive technology (ART) are two to four times more likely to have birth defects as compared to naturally conceived infants. The findings were applicable only in single births and not in the case of twins or multiple births.

According to sources, Rekha will be the guest of honour. Initially Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was invited by the government but he couldn't accept the invitation as he was busy shooting in Panchmarhi. However Rekha has confirmed her presence as the chief guest.

Biocon to invest Rs 100 cr in R&D

Biocon to invest Rs 100 cr in R&DBiotechnology major Biocon has revealed its plans to pump Rs 100 crore in the coming fiscal with the aim to increase its research and development, to keep pace with increased orders from multinational firms, as leading worldwide firms have slashed their expenditure on R &D.

While commenting on the plans, Biocon Chairperson and Managing Director, Ms Kiran Mazumdar Shaw stated, "We will be investing Rs 100 crore in 2009-10 for enhancing our research and development."

According to the sources, the conglomerate has set aside an investment of Rs 60 crore for the current year.
