Ullrich awarded 340,000 euros after winning legal battle

Jan UllrichDusseldorf - The former boss of the Coast cycling team was on Wednesday ordered by a German court to pay Jan Ullrich 340,000 euros (432,000 dollars) plus interest for failing to honour outstanding wages due to the now retired cyclist.

Guenther Dahms refused to pay Ullrich the money due to him because he was of the opinion the 1997 Tour de France winner was doped during his time with the Coast team.

"It is good that truth won out. It was easy for me today, telling the truth is always easy," said Ullrich after the verdict from a court in Dusseldorf.

Pakistan Radio targets Hindus

Pakistan RadioChandigarh, Nov. 12 : The Punjabi Durbar programme of Pakistan radio seems to have run out of ideas and is harking back at blaming Hindus in India for hurting Sikhs and Muslims.

The objectives of the programmes is to create divisions in the society in Punjab and cause rift in Punjabi society by attacking the communal harmony and brotherhood existing here for time immemorial.

The allegations contained in the Pakistan Radio’s broadcasts have angered local leaders.

Sikhs take out processions on eve of Guru Nanak''s birth anniversary

Guru Nanak Dev JiNew Delhi, Nov 12 : Members of Sikh community took out a procession in New Delhi on Wednesday on the eve of the 540th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh religion.

In New Delhi, a procession was taken out from Gurudwara Sisganj in the centre of the city.

"On this occasion we take out Nagar Kirtan. The religious processions are meant to spread the teachings of Guru Nanak. Therefore, we are taking out this procession to proliferate the wisdom contained in the words of Guru Nanak to the people," said Kulbir Singh Garewal, manager of the Sisganj Gurudwara.

Six killed in Kandahar bomb attack

Afghanistan, KabulKabul - Six civilians were killed when a bomb-filled fuel tanker exploded close to the building where the brother of President Hamid Karzai was attending a meeting in the southern province of Kandahar on Wednesday, according to government sources.

The bomb injured 43 people, however, Ahmed Wali Karzai escaped uninjured when the tanker exploded near where he was attending a meeting at the office of the provincial council, the BBC reported.
