Washington - Space shuttle Endeavour closed in on the International Space Station on Sunday after a trouble-free journey since blastoff from Cape Canaveral.

The shuttle's seven-member crew spent the first 24 hours of their mission checking for damage that might have arisen from Saturday's launch but found the craft in top condition, the US space agency NASA said.

Later Sunday, the astronauts were set to prepare Endeavour for its docking with the ISS, expected around 2204 GMT.

Rene Cardinal, a Canadian Food Inspection Agency official talking to the Canadian Press, stated Romaine lettuce is believed to be the prime suspect in four E. coli outbreaks in southwestern Ontario.

Kabul - A soldier was killed by an explosive device in Afghanistan Saturday while at least four other international troops were injured in two separate attacks on Sunday, military sources reported.

Additionally, an operation by US-lead coalition forces killed 30 Taliban insurgents Saturday night in the latest violence in Afghanistan.

Julie, the pet, today moves around with the aid of stilted wheels, which is almost, like a ''wheel chair'' designed by its owner.
