US, Europe to go through long recession, OECD says

OECDParis - The United States and the nations of the eurozone have entered an economic recession that will last at least until the third quarter of next year, the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) said in its semi-annual Economic Outlook, released Tuesday in Paris.

"Twenty-one of 30 OECD member countries will go through a protracted recession, of a magnitude not seen since the early 1980s," OECD chief economist Klaus Schmidt-Hebbel told journalists during the launch of the report.

Global notebook PC shipment to surge in 2009

Kuwait government resigns to prevent questioning of premier

Kuwait FlagKuwait City - Kuwait's government resigned on Tuesday to prevent the country's parliament from questioning the prime minister, Dubai based al-Arabiya channel reported.

Speaker Jassem al-Kharafi called off a parliamentary session after the government refused to attend.

Some members of parliament had wanted to question Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad al-Ahmad al-Sabah about a visit to Kuwait by a Shiite Iranian cleric, who they claimed had insulted Sunni Muslims.

Kuwait, which has a Sunni majority, is just across a narrow body of water from majority-Shiite Iran.

Queen of pop Madonna has suggested princess of pop Britney Spears never to marry again.

Media reports predict that Madonna (50) has asked Britney not to walk down the aisle for another time.

Britney, 26, divorced Kevin Federline in 2006.

Earlier this month, Britney had performed for Madonna ‘Sticky and Sweet’ world tour.

A close aide of Madonna said, “Britney asked Madonna if she will ever marry again after her split from Guy. Madonna not only said she wouldn’t but told Britney to forget about marriage. She said it just doesn’t work for girls like them.”

“Madonna clearly sees a lot of herself in Britney because she seems very eager to help her”, added the source.

Mass graves near US prison camp discovered in Vietnam

Vietnam lets detained Vietnamese American go home Hanoi- After seeking help from psychics, Vietnamese authorities have uncovered mass graves containing the remains of at least 600 Vietnamese soldiers near a prison camp used by the US military during the war, authorities said Tuesday.

"We found two mass graves thanks to the help of people with telepathic powers," said Pham Vu Hong, the chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province on the island of Phu Quoc, where the graves were found. "These prisoners were killed during the war."

Yemen to receive Bin Laden's ex-driver from Guantanamo

Osama Bin Laden, Salim HamdanSana'a, Yemen - Yemen will receive Osama bin Laden's former driver Salim Hamdan from the US military prison in Guantanamo on the island of Cuba, the Arab country's Defence Ministry said on Tuesday.

"US authorities will hand over the Yemeni citizen Salim Hamdan to Yemen," the ministry said in a statement posted on its website.

The statement said the extradition would be carried out "within the next few days," without elaborating.
