Danish Supreme Court to try terror T-shirt convictions

Denmark FlagCopenhagen - The Danish Supreme Court was set to try the convictions of six people sentenced for supporting terrorist groups by selling T-shirts, an appeals board said Tuesday.

The Eastern High Court in September sentenced two persons to six- month jail terms. The others received suspended prison sentences ranging from 60 days to four months.

A seventh suspect was freed of the charges under anti-terrorism laws of using proceeds from the T-shirt sales to fund the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

The singer was randomly selected for an extra hand luggage search as he waited in London''s Gatwick Airport''s departure lounge for a flight to Las Vegas.

Despite being told by staff he would be unable to board the plane without being searched, Robin refused to hand over his bag.

The 58-year-old singer, who was travelling alone, eventually agreed to be escorted back through security check points - but missed his 4,000 pounds flight.

Hungarian parliament accepts cost cutting changes to budget bill

Hungary FlagBudapest - The Hungarian parliament voted on Tuesday to accept the government's proposed changes to the 2009 budget bill.

The latest budget proposal includes a cap on year-end bonus pension payments and other measures aimed at getting the shaky Hungarian economy onto a firmer footing.

The latest adjustments to the 2009 budget bill, which is expected to be voted through on December 15 were passed by 211 votes to 169.

As it announced on Monday, the liberal Alliance of Free Democrats supported the minority Hungarian Socialist Party's budget proposals, giving the government the necessary majority.

Lebanon needs unity to stand against Israel, say Iran's leader

Ayatollah Ali KhameneiTehran - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday told visiting Lebanese President Michel Suleiman that to stand against Israel, Lebanon needed to maintain unity among various groups.

"Iran believes that the strength of all Lebanese groups lies in national unity for effectively confronting the Zionist regime (Israel)," the ayatollah said in his meeting with Suleiman.

Suleiman arrived in Tehran on Monday for a two-day state visit. He is the third Lebanese president to visit Tehran since the 1979 Islamic revolution.
