Saravana Bhavan founder gets life term in murder caseChennai, Mar 19 : The Madras High Court on Thursday awarded a life sentence to P. Rajagopal, the founder of the Saravana Bhavan hotel chain.

Rajagopal, 59, was found guilty for murdering one of his employees, Prince Shantakumar, in 2001.

A bench comprising Justices P. K. Mishra and R. Banumathi announced the verdict on Rajagopal and six others in response to an appeal filed by the government to enhance on punishment for the accused in the case.

Rajagopal was earlier sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by a local court.

Arun JaitleyNew Delhi, Mar 19 : After skipping two key party meetings to express his displeasure over the appointment of Sudhanshu Mittal as party co-convenor for the North East, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley on Thursday met party President Rajnath Singh.

According to reports, Jaitley went to the Singh's residence here and stayed there for about an hour.

The BJP General Secretary is the party's in-charge for Bihar and Delhi and the name of candidates for these two states could not be finalised as he had skipped the Central Election Committee meeting twice.

Clint Eastwood ''casts son'' in Nelson Mandela biopicLondon, Mar 19 : Clint Eastwood's son Scott has landed a role in his father''s untitled Nelson Mandela biopic, according to reports.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon have already signed on for the film, which is based on the real-life story of how Mandela united South Africa.

This isn't the first time that Scott has starred in a film directed by his father, reports the BBC.

He starred in both `Gran Torino' and `Flags of Our Fathers'. The actor''s credit usually appears as Scott Reeves.

Justin Long to star in ''Going the Distance''Washington, Mar 19 : Actor Justin Long has been roped in to play the lead in a romantic comedy titled ''Going the Distance''.

The plot of the film revolves around a man and woman in a long-distance relationship, who ultimately come to the realization that they would be happier dating someone closer to home, reports Variety magazine.

Director Nanette Burstein will helm the project.

Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot are producing the film via their Offspring Entertainment shingle.

‘RTI on Wheels' Completes One Year On March 17A mobile multi-media van ‘RTI on Wheels’, which was launched to make people aware about the Right to Information (RTI) Act in remote areas, has completed a year in the state on March 17.

The Gujarat State Information Commission, Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) and Mahiti Adhikar Gujarat Pahel (MAGP) jointly launched ‘RTI on Wheels’ in 2008.

In a period of 12-months, RTI on wheels reached about 80,000 people in 450 villages and 13 cities.
