Moscow, Mar. 25 : Joining the international community's concern over the increasing extremism in Pakistan and its precarious political situation, Russia has said that peace can not be established in Afghanistan until Pakistan is stabilized.

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Sergei Ivanov said that Moscow is `very much concerned' about the security of Pakistan's nuclear armaments.

London, Mar. 25 : Pakistan is using ex-terror suspect Hyarbyar Marri as a mediator between the terror outfit which kidnapped UN official John Solecki and the government to get the American citizen released.

Marri, recently acquitted of terrorism charges in the UK, was approached by Pakistan's Interior Ministry to use his influence with the kidnappers, Dawn reports.

Sources claimed that it was Marri who successfully persuaded the Balochistan Liberation United Front to extend the deadlines.

Algiers - Two soldiers and seven presumed Islamic terrorists have died in Algeria as the wave of violence continued in the run-up to April 9 general elections, local media reported on Wednesday.

The two soldiers were killed when a homemade bomb exploded under the lorry on which they were riding late Monday in the southern region city of M'ziraa, the daily Liberte reported.

London, Mar 25 : Brit celebrity Jade Goody''s hubby Jack Tweed has revealed that he is struggling to cope with the tragic death of his wife.

Tweed, 21, did not have much to say, as he left his mum Mary''s home for lunch with two of his friends at a Zizzi''s restaurant in Redbridge, Essex.

"I'd like to thank everyone for their kind support and for all the flowers," the Sun quoted him as saying.

Sydney - Nine of the 10 survivors from a pod of 80 whales that beached themselves near Margaret River on Australia's west coast earlier this week came ashore again Wednesday.

The long-finned pilot whales were spotted not far from Flinders Bay, where they were shepherded out to sea by a volunteer army of nature lovers a day earlier.

Two were already dead, one had been attacked by a shark and the remaining six were likely to be put down because they were in poor condition.

Stockholm - Although US giant General Motors aims to sell its Swedish subsidiary Saab, the two groups have agreed to cooperate in future, financial daily Dagens Industri reported Wednesday.

Saab last month filed for bankruptcy protection while it attempts to reorganize its business. That move came after GM said it planned to shed the brand as part of its restructuring efforts.
