General Motors To Launch Two Car Models In 2010 General Motors would launch new models of mini compact global car in 2010. These models are being developed at company’s Bangalore plant in India and other global plants in the world.

The company has also decided to launch its first electric car in India. It will expand its car business with the additional investment of US $ 500 million in next seven years. The US based company has already invested about US $ 1 billion in India.

GM has decided to develop small diesel engines in its new power plant in India with an investment of $200-million.

General Motors would also increase its production capacity in plants located at Talegoan, Maharashtra from 140,000 to 300,000 vehicles.

The company has ruled out the launch of cheap car in the market. GM's president and managing director of India Karl Sim said that the company has a joint venture in china for small cars but it has not decided to produce such cars in India as existing models are already doing well.

The president and COO of General Motors said that Indian market has great potential for the Chevrolet brand. The company would upgrade the existing models with new technology. The company will also set up new plants in India in future.
