Ganguly Says, He wont retire from ODI
Sourav Ganguly, former captain of Indian Cricket Team, who was recently awarded the Asian Cricketer and Asian Batsman of the year at the Castrol Asian Cricket Awards held in Karachi, said once again that he won’t retire from the ODI cricket. The former Team India Skipper did lose heart even when he was inculded in the Champions Trophy squad.
Ganguly is hopeful that he will be able to make a place for himself in the ODI team by performing to best of his abilities. Ganguly, who started his international career back in 1992, had always been pushed to the corner, but still he always managed to come out with flying colors.
Talking about the Castrol Asian Cricket Awards, Sachin Tendulkar was titled the Best ODI batsman while Gautam Gambhir grabbed the honor in Twenty20.
On the other hand, Kumar Sangakkara, who is the wicket keeper of Sri-Lanka, won the Best Test Batsman of the year Award. Farveez Maharoof was chosen as the Best ODI Bowler.
The Best Bowler award was won by Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.
A surprising element was however added in the ceremony when Kamran Akmal won the award for Best Fielder, even though when he was dropped from the Asia Cup Squad for his poor performance.
The winners were chosen by former pacer Wasim Akram along with Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya and former India skipper Rahul Dravid. According to Akram, Akmal was chose because he was judged for his overall performance for last two years.
