Gambhir to lead Delhi Daredevils in Champions League

Gautam-GambhirGautam Gambhir will lead the Indian Premier League team Delhi Daredevils in the upcoming Champions T20 League as Virender Sehwag has decided to quit from captaincy to focus on his batting as reported by GMR's chairman Srinivas Bommidala on Monday. Champions League will kick off from 8th October in India.

Sehwag said that he has decided to step down as captain of Delhi Daredevils as he wants to concentrate upon his batting and he was unable to do it with extra burden of captaincy.

Sehwag added that Gambhir will be good choice for captaincy as he had done well as a captain in the recently concluded IPL-2 in South Africa and he would use his leadership skills to give his best for the team.

Dinesh Karthik has been appointed as vice-captain of Delhi Daredevils. Karthik said that it is a great honor for him and they have a very talented and balanced team which would deliver their best in the Champions League.

Delhi Daredevil squad for the Champions League includes Gautam Gambhir (captain), Dinesh Karthik (vice captain), Virender Sehwag, AB De Villiers, Tilakaratne Dilshan, Daniel Vettori, Paul Collingwood, Ashish Nehra, Amit Mishra, Dirk Nannes, Owais Shah, Rajat Bhatia, Pradeep Sangwan, Vijaykumar Yo Mahesh and Mithun Manhas.
