Fuel price hike sparks protests in NepalKathmandu, June 10 : The decision of the Nepal Government to increase the prices of the Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) products effective from today has sparked protests across the country.

According to Nepalnews, the protests are led by Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) affiliated youth body Democratic National Youth Organisation (DNYO). Students affiliated to UML staged demonstrations in central campus, Tribhuvan University.

Demonstrations in Koteshor, Nayabazzar and Lainchour led to disruption of traffic from early morning. Bigger protests have been planned later today at Ratna Park.

Demonstrations were also staged near Ghantaghar in Birgunj.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Petroleum Dealers Association (PDA) held this morning has set market prices of the petroleum products. (ANI)
