Frankfurt Motor Show to open for public in ThursdayOne of the most important auto shows in the auto sector on the international stage, the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 will open for public on Thursday.

The auto show, which takes place on alternate years with the Paris motor show, will include several launches in the competitive small car market this year. German car maker, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and BMW are all planning to release compact cars at the event to woo customers in crowded cities.

Volkswagen's Up subcompact car, Mercedes-Benz's B-Class hatchback and BMW's i3 electric car will hope attract a large number of customers and stir excitement for pushing up sales this year, ahead of 2012 the year in which the demand may slowdown.

The economic conditions leading up to the show has resulted in mixed feelings. One one hand, huge profits in the sector has kicked up enthusiasm, while on the other hand the debt crisis in the Eurozone has affected consumer optimism.

Meanwhile, Porsche 911, electric Volkswagen up! and Skoda MissionL were revealed during an exclusive preview event for the Volkswagen Group on the eve of the Frankfurt Motor Show.
