Fortuner’s 4.0l VVT-i petrol engine not for Indian consumer
While there is no denying that the Fortuner has taken the SUV market by storm and it is clearly testified from the fact that the company has stopped the booking for the past few months and expects the scenario to be the same even in the few months to come.
However, according to the sources in the industry, the Indonesia unit of the world’s largest automaker, Toyota is working on a plan to fix the new mammoth 4.0l VVT-i petrol engine that produces 235bhp in the Fortuner and export close to 10,000 units of the Toyota Fortuner in 2010.
But the sad part is that it will not be available for the Indian consumer.
Hence, the Indian consumer will have to drive the 3.0l diesel Fortuner in the Indian market.
According to Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar, the company will not be launching the Fortuner in the petrol variant in the Indian market as the recently launched variant is doing very well and the company is facing a situation of a massive shortage of supply.
