First state in the country to facilitate free ambulance servicesIt was announced by the Health Minister Rajeev Bindal that by the end of this year Himachal Pradesh would be providing free ambulance services and he said that a private firm has join hands with Himachal Pradesh government to do this Nobel task.

He had announced that free ambulance services will begin from October 2 from Sirmaur, Solan, Una and Hamirpur district and later on from December 25, it will be introduced in all the districts except tribal kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti districts.  

Mr. Bindal further said that this service has been made possible through a PPP (Public-Private-partnership) agreement between the government and Hyderabad based company GVK-EMRI .

Under this agreement it is stated that 108 ambulances will be carried out in the sate free of cost.

Himachal Pradesh would be the country’s first state to launch free ambulance services and the state is very close to achieve WHO standards , said by GVK-EMRI chief executive officer Venkat Chengavalli.
