Facebook partners Spotify for music streaming service, report
According to a latest report, Facebook has entered into an agreement with music streaming service Spotify to offer the service using a Spotify icon on the social networking site that has more than 600 million users.
Forbes has said that Facebook might launch the service through a Spotify icon on the news feed, with two weeks. Spotify is a popular service from Sweden and has already expanded to countries including Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and the UK.
Industry experts say the two weeks I very little time for the service to be available to the users. Firstly, some believe that the service will first launch operations in the US and then be available on the social network. Secondly, it can be noted that Spotify has received licenses from two big unnamed record labels but it might need the backing of another two before launching on Facebook.
The discussions for licenses from the music labels are complicated and might require more time than two weeks. Facebook is planning to offer the service to users around the world and not just in the US and thus will wait for the time until it is fully prepared as a final product for the millions of users.
