Facebook Improves Social Life of Its Users: Study
As per reports from New Scientists, the Facebook users had a better social life than the ones who did not used social networking sites in America. As per the reports from Pew Research Center, in Washington DC, Facebook users had more number of close friends and were slightly more involved in political discussion than others.
A survey was done on 2,255 Americans, which revealed that an average Facebook user were friends with atleast 299 people, which accounted a rate of 48% more than their offline friends. People using Facebook were improving their lives by 9% through making closer ties on the site. The users had 22% of their school friends and 95 constituted of their college and university friends.
Pew surveyed 2,255 people over the age of 18 and adjusting for demographic factors, found that Internet users on the whole are more than twice as likely as non-Internet users to feel most people can be trusted, which is perhaps surprising considering how cynical the Internet makes us.
However, frequent Facebook users are 43 percent more likely than even this to trust others. The American Facebook users were provided with better social support in comparison to the ones who did not use the social networking site.
