Excise policy expected to help Chaddha
As per the new excise policy of the government, liquor is going to get costlier. But as understood, many of the companies and the critiques are against this kind of policy. They say that it has been done clearly to support the Chaddha group of companies.
Leader of Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha Shivpal Singh Yadav said that the two-year policy has shown how Mayawati is desperate to protect the interests of Chaddha. It would become important if BSP faces reverse electoral ideas this time during the elections.
But same were not the thoughts of the senior officials who claimed that the policy has been framed keeping in mind the realities. The resources thus generated are going to be used for developmental projects.
The official press release says that policy targets a rise of 20 per cent in the excise duty. For 2011-12 the total amount has been fixed at Rs 6,770 crore which is going to be made Rs 8,000 crore plus in 2012-13.
Liquor price will be rising because of fee structure. As per it, the basic licence fee for CML will become Rs. 2 per litre and the duty fee has shot up by Rs. 130-157.
