DMRC to build over-bridges at stations along Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar Metro corridor
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will build extra-long foot over-bridges for commuters at stations along the new Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar Metro corridor as new transfer stations will not be adjacent to existing ones.
Six of the total seven new transfer stations along the new Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar Metro corridor will not be adjacent to existing stations
The foot over-bridges, which will allow commuters to move to another station without making an exit and re-entery, will be between 70m and 200m in length.
These over-bridges will link the new line to Karkarduma, Mayur Vihar, Welcome, Netaji Subhash Place, Rajouri Garden and Azadpur Metro stations.
When contacted, a DMRC official said, "Due to constraints such as inadequate availability of land near the existing stations and the direction of the alignment, it was very difficult to connect the new stations with operational ones."
No over-bridge will be built at Anand Vihar as the new station is being constructed adjacent to the existing one.
At 56 kilometer, Line 7 is the longest in the system. It will cross in a sweeping U-shape via all the existing lines. Construction is expected to commence in 2014 and completed end of 2017.
Meanwhile, DMRC is also preparing to launch a downloadable mobile app that will provide information about stations as well as fares, without having to connect to the Internet.
