Delhi traffic Police might arrest traffic violations this Holi
The Delhi traffic police have warned notorious drivers in the national capital that it might arrest traffic violations and even impound their vehicles during the upcoming festival of Holi.
The traffic police said that persons found violating rules will not get away by just paying a fine and might face an arrest in the national capital. It has also made elaborate arrangements to allow the traffic to ply smoothly on city roads on the day of the festival. Police officials will also be in the lookout for drunk-driving, over-speeding, dangerous driving, triple riding, driving or riding without helmet and other traffic violations in the city.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla said, "Special checking teams with alcometers and speedometers will be deployed at major intersections to detect and prosecute violations. In case of drink driving, besides prosecution, the drivers are liable to be arrested and their vehicles impounded."
The Delhi traffic police had booked a total of 8,526 people traffic rules violations on Holi in the previous year. The department is planning to deploy about 200 checking teams cross the city to check drink driving. The force has published an advisory for Holi celebrations for the traffic arrangements in the city to ensure the safety of motorists in the city.
