Deadline for submitting KYC forms extended to November 15

Deadline for submitting KYC forms extended to November 15The Petroleum & Natural Gas Ministry on Tuesday extended the deadline for filling up the Know Your Customer (KYC) by LPG (cooking gas) consumers to 15th of November as stressed people are still forming long queues in front of distributors' offices to submit the forms.

Previously, all LPG distributors had been asked to collect and verify duly filled KYC forms from consumers by 31st of October.

Along with the KYC form, LPG consumers are being asked to mention details of name, address, father's name, and deposit a photograph, copy of identity and residence proofs.

All the three state-run oil marketing companies, viz. Indian Oil Corp, Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd and Bharat Petroleum Corp Limited are busy in collecting KYC forms in bid to get rid of duplicate, bogus and multiple connections.

The `one household, one connection' drive followed the government's ruling to cap the supply of subsidized LPG cylinders to six cylinders per household per year. The oil marketing companies have asked consumers to voluntarily surrender additional connections, if they have.

To dissipate confusion surrounding KYC form submission, the oil companies have clarified that multiple families living under the same roof can retain multiple connections.

After the announcement of the cap, all eligible consumers can get a maximum of three subsidized LPG cylinders during the remaining part of the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2013.
