CPSC Directs Manufactures for Pourable Fuel Gel Recall
On Thursday, the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission notified that nine manufacturers will recall a product used to fuel decorative fire pots. The move came consequent to an incident where a number of people have received serious injuries after explosions.
"The injuries are actually greater than the number of incidents because loved ones and friends are trying to come to the rescue of the victim, who is on fire, and then they themselves are set on fire”, notified CPSC Spokesman Scott Wolfson.
Sources have confirmed two deaths associated with Napa Home & Garden of Duluth, Georgia, fuel gel products and pushed the manufacturer to recall its product during June 2011.
In addition, the recent recall is expected to target not less than two million units of pourable gel packets sold since 2008. They were packed in one-quart range plastic bottles as well as one-gallon plastic jugs.
Meanwhile, Bird Brain Inc. of Ypsilanti, Michigan; Bond Manufacturing of Antioch, Wisconsin; Fuel Barons Inc. of Lake Tahoe, Wisconsin; Luminosities Inc. of St. Paul, Minnesota; Pacific Decor Ltd. of Woodinwille, California; Sunjel Company of Milwaukee, Real Flame of Racine, Wisconsin; and Smart Solar Inc. of Oldsmar, Florida have notified recall of their products.
