Clinton would have been better than Obama in building gaps with Republicans: CheneyWashington, Sept 5 : Former US Vice President Dick Cheney has praised Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, saying that she might have been better at building gaps with Republicans if she were in the White House than the current president.

During an interview with Fox News, Cheney called Clinton as one of the more competent members of President Barack Obama''''s administration

"She might have been easier for some of us who are critics of the president to work with," Cheney said citing a litany of complaints about Obama''''s approach to the economy.

"I have the sense that she''''s one of the more competent members of the current administration. And it would be interesting to speculate how she might perform," he added.

Cheney was asked whether the Democrats would have been better off with Clinton than Obama as their candidate in 2012.

"I certainly wouldn''''t want to discourage a good primary contest on their side," Cheney responded, though he noted he would be supporting the Republican nominee no matter what.

Cheney complained that Obama's policies have hurt the economy by loading up the private sector with regulations.

He further said he doesn''''t think the president''''s upcoming jobs speech is going to include measures that will `get the job done,' and called for a `pro-growth policy' to get the economy moving. (ANI)
