Chinese exports rise 21.8 per cent in FebruaryAccording to the latest figures released, the total exports from China increased 21.8 per cent during the month of February compared to the same month of the previous year mainly due to increased demand from the US and South East Asian countries.

The higher than expected exports indicate that the world's second largest economy is recovering amid growing demand for its products in other countries. The growth in exports is a positive news for the economy specially as the month had 4 fewer working days compared to February of 2012. This is second straight month of more than20 per cent growth in exports.

The encouraging export data was released as the new leadership of the country holds the crucial National People's Congress. The leaders have gathered to form the policy to speed up the recovery of the country after it faced slowest growth in more than a decade. The export growth increased 15 per cent year on year in January to 16 per cent in February while export to EU nations was recorded at 17 per cent in February compared to the same month of the previous year.

On the other hand, the total imports into the country were affected by the Chinese New Year. The imports fell 15 per cent during the month compared to February of the previous year.
