Chandrayaan-I Ready For Launch Later This Year, Says Kasturirangan

India will soon enter into the unmanned moon mission. The country would launch Chandrayaan-I Ready For Launch Later This Year, Says KasturiranganChandrayaan-I by the end of this year.

It was disclosed by space scientist and former ISRO chairman Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan in a book release function.

Seven countries such as Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, France and Britain have already launched their Moon mission.

The spacecraft will carry five Indian and six international experiments. The work on these projects is going on with fast speed. The spacecraft is being tested for the extreme thermal and vacuum environment around lunar orbit.

Its vibration and acoustic tests are expected to complete within a month. Chandrayaan-I will orbit around Moon for two years. It is expected to be launched by Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) by the month of December.

India has also started work on next lunar mission Chandrayaan-II. It is designed to land the rover on the surface of moon to collect samples of dust and rocks. It is a joint venture of India and Russia.
